I have always been fascinated by history. But history is not just facts and figures. It’s stories, context, connections, and motivations. It’s the stories that make it worth sharing. It’s remembering the context and motivations that allow us see the connections. And ideally, it’s all of this that allows us to better understand, move on, and do better, leaving our art form and the broader world a little richer for our passing through.

So I dance to tell kinesthetic, modern stories, and I lecture to tell verbal, historical ones.
